The Committee considered a report of the Head of Public Protection & Development Management which outlined the requirement licensing authorities have regarding publishing a statement of policy in exercising their functions under the Act.

 

In Northamptonshire the policy was prepared jointly across the county and was reviewed in accordance with guidance from the Local Government Association and members of the national licensing policy forum.  Little response was received from consultees and each authorities committee members received a copy of the documents.

 

Resolved

 

  1. That the Council’s Statement of Policy in relation to the Gambling Act 2005 be noted.

Taxis and Private Hire - A Review of the Joint Enforcement Working Arrangements with Milton Keynes Council pdf icon PDF 150 KB

Report of Environment Health Manager

Minutes:

The Committee considered a report of the Environmental Health Manager which updated members and the joint enforcement work with Milton Keynes Council during 2011/12 and sought members views on future joint working arrangements.

 

Resolved

 

  1. That the work that has been carried out jointly by both local authorities officers be noted.

 

  1. That the joint statement as still being fit for purpose be endorsed.

 

  1. That reinvigorating the joint statement be supported and that it should be resent to all drivers and operators again to remind them of our approach be agreed.

The Licensing Team Leader presented his report, which gave an update on Licensing Matters since the last meeting. The report covered an update on the Licensing Act, the Gambling Act, Taxi Licensing, Department of Transport – Taxi and Private Hire Services Consultation, Enforcement and Licensing Hearings that had been held since the last meeting of the Committee.
